The Renaissance - a revival or rebirth of cultural awareness and learning that took place during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, particularly in Italy, but also in Germany and other European countries.

This period was characterized by a renewed interest in ancient Greek and Roman art and design and included an emphasis on human beings, their environment, science, and philosophy.

Dance

Today we have many different types of Dance: hip-hop, jazz, ballroom, ballet, and many more. During the Renaissance time period (from the 1300's to the 1600's), they had different types of Dance too. The two main types of dance during the Renaissance were Court dance, and Peasant dancing. Court dances were done for entertainment and more complex, the courtiers would hire dance masters to come up with some new dances. Peasant dancing was usually not for entertainment but just for the fun of dancing!
